For those who are serious about researching the contents of the original Shepherd’s Rod (SRod) a scripture index much like the one originally developed for the writings of Ellen White known as the Spirit of Prophecy (SOP) have proven very helpful. The first scriptural index covering the writings of the SRod message appeared sometime in the late 1950s and was published by Florence Houteff and her Executive Council. The major problem was that these indexes contained references to the unauthorized Symbolic Codes Vol. 10, No.. 7 to Vol. 12, Nos. 11, 12 published after the death of V. T. Houteff in 1955 also known as the “New Codes”. After the demise of Florence and her group in 1962 some Davidian groups continued to publish this index. For example, the Salem group after 1970 and the Mt. Dale group after 1986. They were published either as four or five volumes soft cover tracts about the size of the Timely Greetings Series of publications (4 in. x 6 in.). In 1993 Don Adair, leader of the Salem Association copyrighted and published a single volume hard cover version of the SRod Scripture Index which he sold for a modest cost ($10).However, the problem with this offering was that it was also contaminated with the New Code references (Vol. 10, No. 7 to Vol. 13, Nos. 11, 12) just like the crooked work of Florence Houteff.
By the providence of God upa7.org published and made available new SRod Scripture and SOP Indexes in a two volume set in the convenient pocket size of the original SRod tracts (5 3/4 in. x 3 1/3 in.) starting in 2012. The content for these new scripture indexes was taken from the original writings of the late Victor T. Houteff in a series of books, tracts, and letters published from 1930 to 1954. They do not include citations to any unauthorized publications after his death in February 1955. Thus, for the first time an unadulterated scripture index to the original Shepherd’s Rod publications in now available for all serious students and researchers of the message.
