A Call to Action

It is Time to Stand Up, do Something,

and Cease Being Idle

So are you really serious about doing something to advance the Rod message? Are you tried of much talking and endless failed promises? Do you want to move forward, putting behind the past, separate from all error, and choose to look to God alone for help? Then this message is for you. Now is a call to action for those who are willing to do and dare.

Over the years we have received many requests from individuals seeking advice on how to go about doing some work for God to spread the Shepherd’s Rod message and asked what we thought about it. Most of the time the ideas such as turning the Rod into audio files, creating a searchable Rod database along the lines of the EGW CD-ROM, writing and publishing music bearing the Rod message, starting up a website to witness for the Rod, etc. have been noble and certainly something that needs to be done. After hearing their proposals we heartily encouraged them to take the matter to the Lord in prayer and go do it.

With all of this unbridled enthusiasm to advance the Rod message you would think that the church would have been reached by now and the blessed hope of the long hoped for kingdom would have come at last. Yet what has been the fruit of all of these endeavors? Nothing. Yes this may be shocking to hear, but essentially nothing has come about from all of this talk and wishful thinking. And we are talking about years passed by in some cases with no visible results. Nothing. So what is the problem here folks? All of this grand talk about wanting to do some great work for God yet, no results. It is as if these people expect that some secret door would somehow mysteriously open and everything would happen just like that. There must be some reason why this pathetic situation arises again and again. Let us get to the root of the matter and do something about it rather than sit around talking about it or daydreaming.

Seven Reasons Why most Efforts Fail

• More time is spent talking about doing something big rather than actually doing it.
• Those do who do most of the talking are to lazy to do the hard work required and expect, or hope, that someone else will do it for them.
• Some people like go to someone who is busy getting something done and give them a great idea hoping that this energetic motivated individual will say “wow that is a great idea let me do that for you and I will send you the results when I get it finished”
• Others expect that they need all of the latest and greatest tools, gadgets, software, computers, etc. costing X thousands of dollars before they can start doing something for God.
• Still others will make excuses that they do not have the necessary skills to do the audio, video, design websites, layout graphics, etc.
• And then there are those who never acknowledge the real efforts of the rare individual who is actually doing something for the Rod, but prefer to sit back on the judgment seat and criticize any work that they themselves do not have a part of.
• Then there are those who want to do something for God but actually end up spend countless hours in chat rooms, discussion groups, forums, Facebook, etc. and thinking that they are doing a great work of God.

Four Proven Ways to Actually Do Something

• Stop talking, get on your knees and start praying.
• If you see something that needs to be done then do not side-step it or expect others to do it for you. This is the work God is calling for you to do, no matter how small or insignificant it seems.
• Do not make any excuses that you do have the skills to do something. Go to school, take a class, take an online course, sign up for a specialized webinar training program, buy some books on the area you are interested in and read them.
• Start with the equipment you have and do not wait one second to start doing something because you think you need something. George Washington Carver revolutionized the face of Southern agriculture and enabled the poor black man to make a living for himself by starting with nothing. Read his story for motivation.
